Dahi bade often called as dahi bhalle is one of the favorite dish of Indians. Cooked with the mixture of grinded lentils and dry fruits, served with chilled curd garnished with tamarind chutney ( dip ) and green chutney, this soft and succulent dish carry away the hearts of not only Indians but also of the people around the globe. 🙂
Let’s have a look on the recipe!
Preparation time: 5 hours
Cooking time: 40 mins
Urad dal / lentil – 2 cups
Salt – 1 tsp
Dried raisins – 1/2 cup
Oil – for frying
Curd – 4 cups
Sugar (powdered) – 4 tsp
Salt – As per taste
Red pepper powder – 1 tsp
Jeera powder – 1 tsp
Soak the Urad dal for 4.5 hours. Drain the water and grind it finely. Make small balls and fry them in the oil. Keep it aside. ( If you want to store them, simply put them in a poly bag and refrigerate it. If you want to use it immediately, dip them in hot water for 10 mins and squeeze the extra water after that.
Now take the curd ( It should be thick enough. You can also drain it once so that excess water can be drained out). Add sugar and salt and whisk properly. Now dip the balls in the curd. Keep it in refrigerator for 30 mins.
Now arrange it on a tray. Add extra curd if you want. Pour tamarind chutney, and mint chutney ( not in this pic) . Sprinkle red pepper powder and cumin powder.
Arrange Mint leaves over it. Chilled Dahi bades are ready! 🙂
