Quiche with the stir fried veggies!

A perfect meal on its own, quiche has been a mix of German and French cuisine since eras. It’s crisp outer shell filled with juicy cheesy vegetables or non-veg makes it a complete treat for all the 5 senses. Baked in an utterly buttery way…this vegetable Quiche will surely rule your hearts! 🙂

Serves 4

Preparation time 1 hr

Cooking time 20 mins

For Quiche

  1. All purpose flour – 1.5 cup
  2. Carom seeds – 1tsp
  3. Salt – According to taste
  4. Butter cubes – 1 cup (Frozen)

For Filling

Since I am a vegetarian, I used all the veggies and prepared it. You may use non-veg of your choice.

  1. 1 cup mushrooms – Sliced
  2. 1/2 cup diced onions
  3. 1/2 cup brocolli
  4. 1 cup spinach
  5. 1/2 cup sweetcorns
  6. 1 cup tomato cubes
  7. 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  8. 1 tsp Lemon juice
  9. 1/2 tsp black pepper
  10. Salt – According to taste

For tarts

Put your oven to pre-heat mode at 180 degrees. Strain flour and salt together. Add carom seeds and cold cubed butter. Mix it with hands till butter is mix and a rough dough is ready. You may use just 1-2 tsp of water at the end to mix it well.

This will not be a smooth dough. The butter will give it a layered texture and the crunchiness. Once the dough is ready, keep it in fridge for half an hour. Once the dough is cool, make small balls out of it and arrange the dough in your tarts mould by giving proper pressure on the base and sides.  Bake it at 180 degrees for 15-18 mins.

Note: To avoid the tart raising during the baking process, make tiny cuts, with the help of knife, on the base of the dough once you arrange it in the tart mould. Put kidney beans over it and bake. You may keep the kidney beans in a box to use next time.

For filling

Heat a pan and put butter in it. Fry onions and mushrooms. Put brocolli, sweet-corns and spinach and stir fry. Now add tomatoes and tomato ketchup. Cover it and let it simmer for 2 mins. Sprinkle lemon juice, salt and pepper and mix it well. Filling is ready.

Once the tarts are ready, let them cool down for 10 mins. Remove kidney beans and put filling equally on each of the tart. Grate mozzarella cheese over it and arrange the dough pipes in the shown way. Wash it with milk and bake for atleast 15-18 mins again.

French Quiches is ready! 🙂

Happy Baking!
